14th Annual Strike King Tournament - Results

Eighty six boats showed up for the 14th Annual Strike King Bass Fish Off sponsored by 17th St. Bar. & Grill. This tournament held on Kinkaid Lake has always had a great turn out and this year was no exception. High, sunny skies with a light south breeze met the anglers and fishing was good for most. After eight hours of fishing, the team of Matt Patchett and Joe Bullock set their five fish on the scales. Their 17.05 pounds was good enough for first place. They also took second big bass honors with their big one weighing in at 5.96 pounds. They also were the only team to weigh in a small mouth so they won biggest small mouth. They took home $2440.00 for their efforts. Joe and Matt said they fished the main lake area in eight feet on water throwing tubes and Senkos.

Paul Estel and Keith Gale took second place with their five fish limit weighing in at 16.58 pounds. They caught seven keepers throughout the day and used a variety of soft plastics in six to twelve feet of water. They fished extremely slow to catch their fish. Paul and Keith have been fishing this lake for many years and showed the younger generation once again that they are still a threat on this lake. They took home $1400.00 for their efforts.

The third place team, and best friends of Paul and Keith, Ray Arning Jr. and Mike Kelsey weighed their limit in at 16.56 pounds. The scales left them just 2 one hundredths of an ounce out of second. Both the second and third place teams were happy for each other. Ray and Mike received $1000.00.

They also got big bass- 7.34 pounds worth $500.00. 7th place- Charlie and Bo Nance. 14.07 pounds. $400.00. 8th place- Jim Powell and Matt Garrett. 12.90 pounds. $200.00. 9th place- Larry Hastings and Josh Coppedge. 12.87 pounds. $130.00. 10th place- Mike and James Kirkland. 12.87 pounds. $130.00.
