84 boats showed up to Kinkaid Lake to participate in the 8th Annual Ryan Villager Memorial Bass Tournament. The weather conditions were less than favorable with a cold front blowing in and heavy rains from the night before. The clouds hung around with scattered rain showers until the afternoon. The lake was approximately one foot lower than normal and fishing conditions were very tough. Only two teams managed to catch a five fish limit. Luke Estel and Lee Estel ,from Murphysboro, were able to hang on and win the event. The team culled one time at the end of the day. They used a multitude of lures to catch their limit. Each bass was caught on a different lure. They started shallow in the morning catching a keeper on a topwater and then went out deeper and caught the rest of their fish throwing the new Strike King 6XD crankbaits and a Strike King Rage Tail Thumper worm. Their five fish limit weighed 15.07 pounds and they received $1600.00. The second place team of Richard Armstrong and Steve Armstrong were the only other team to weigh in a limit. Their five fish weighed 14.12 pounds. They took home $1100.00. Big Bass honors came from the team of Keith Williams and Matt Nagel. They weighed in a 6.01 giant. They received $800.00 for that fish. Here are the rest of the top finishers.
