My girls are slowly getting interested in fishing. They have always fished but it has been for bluegill and catfish. I recently switched to working nights so my days are spent with the girls which is great. One day Emily asked if we could go out to the lake and go bass fishing. I didn’t hesitate in saying yes so we hooked up the boat and headed out. I had heard that the bass were biting on wheedles frogs so I spooled up some Vicious braid on their push button reels and tied on some old scum frogs. The action was immediate but they were missing them. I told both of them that they were going to have to do it themselves because if I help then there is no personal satisfaction. After several big blow ups Emily scored first. The bass sucked the bait in and she was able to get a good hook in him and wenched him out of the grass. Next came Hannah. The cast before she missed a nice three pound fish but threw back and caught her first frog fish. Mission accomplished. They both caught fish and they loved it. Two days later they asked me again. I hooked up the boat and headed out. This time I noticed the bass were schooling out in open water. I tied on a couple of Spitn Kings and they both started catching them. We got home I gave them both new spinning rods and reels. It was time to hang up the push button reels. They are ready to go again. The next quest is for each of them to catch a keeper size bass. I know that they will do it.
