3rd time is a "charm"

Lee and I fished the Ryan Villager Memorial and Murphysboro Chamber Buddy Bass Tournament like we have the past two years. September seems to work well for us on Kinkaid Lake. Saturday we struggled and went through 20 spots, barely managing to catch a limit. We culled one 16 incher at the end of the day. Lee was able to catch a 5 1/2 pounder that helped us finish 2nd place out of 86 boats. We had a little over 16 lbs.

Sunday was the Buddy Bass Tournament. I looked at my watch at 12:30 and we had only one 4 pounder in the box. Lee lost one between 5 and 6lbs around 10am - but then redeemed himself with a 6 pounder at 1:30. In an hour, we caught 20 lbs of fish -and we were done by 2pm. I knew we had over 20lbs, but I knew there would be some good sacks weighed in. Just like I suspected, there was a 20 lb sack and a 21 lbs sack already weighed in. But when they put ours on the scale, it weighed 23.9 lbs. A personal best for both of us. We were overjoyed!!!

It's unbelievable that in the past three years (same tournaments), we have come out with four (4) firsts and (2) seconds. We have been very fortunate to have gotten the bites we got and to be able to get them in the boat. I just want to thank Strikeking, Pflueger, & Mustad, because we put that equipment through serious abuse on Saturday and Sunday -and it stood the test!
